My History of Web-Designing
It really began when I wanted to put a background on a page I had on another site.
This sparked my interest and drove me to learn more. I taught myself through trial and error, beginning with basic HTML and tables and then expanding into CSS and PHP. My ability to code has been a work-in-progress since seventh grade, around the years 2005 and 2006.
With an interest in web-design came one in graphics design. I have always had the fortune to work with Adobe products, beginning with Adobe Photoshop 7. My styles have changed over the years, going from grungy and busy with brushes to what I have now which tends to be much more sleek, clean.
I had various websites over the years, most hosted on Freewebs. My first purchased domain was starclansheaven.com and the site served as a fan site for a book series. When my interest in Warriors by Erin Hunter began fading, I opened my first personal website, thatspecialsite.com. It originally served as a free graphics outlet for forums as well as a blog.
Around 2008 I recieved my first freelance job, designing a website for a restaurant. Thrilled by this, I wanted to create a portfolio, and so blackcatfriday.com was born.
It's All in a Name
His name is Friday, and he is a short-haired black barn cat.
He was created as a character to be used in my writing. He quickly developed a 1920s Jazz feel, personifying my love for that era in history. In the end, I never used him for my writing, but his character, and especially his name, interested me enough to name my personal portfolio after him. Older layouts displayed him, but now he is represented solely in name, a symbol of my past desire to be an author, but still supporting my future endeavors.
